Work hard, have fun and make history with Amazon Public Policy. The Program Manager, Public Policy will help support public policy initiatives with a focus on policy writing, research, and analysis for internal and external audiences. This position will report to the Chief of Staff, Public Policy.

The Program Manager will work with public policy, other internal stakeholders, and outside groups to collect and analyze policy information and work with internal teams and external partners to ensure that our positions and engagement efforts are clearly communicated in narrative form. The Program Manager will also develop resources to help internal partners understand the broader public policy environment through written updates and reports, and assist with copy editing efforts on key narratives and policy correspondence on behalf of the public policy team.

The ideal candidate should be adept at collecting and analyzing policy information and data, communicating insights and strategy in narrative form, and presenting analyses in clear and concise written reports. The Program Manager should also have familiarity with business, technology, and public policy.

An ability and desire to travel is required.

The position is based in Arlington, VA.

Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in program or project management
• Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
• Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Political Science, Marketing, Communications or a combination of commensurate experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in public policy and/or copywriting.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience contributing to editorial strategy and execution working with cross-functional teams.
• A strong knowledge of English grammar, usage, and AP style, with a demonstrated ability to apply those rules and guidelines to your own writing and that of others.
• Familiarity with program management tools, techniques and software, including strong skills of breaking down tasks, simplifying roadmaps, establishing owners and timelines, and status reporting.
• Demonstrated success managing multiple deliverables at one time to meet aggressive deadlines.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and evaluate outcomes in narrative form.
• Experience managing senior stakeholders and the ability move forward in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge.
• Knowledge and experience with content creation.
• Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others - with strong interpersonal skills, judgement, and political acumen.
