Amazon Web Services Security Operations Center (AWS-SOC) is looking for a leader to join the Engineering Team. As a Systems Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the overall health of our service and provide excellent customer service to our partners. You will identify and drive efficiencies and automate routine tasks, enabling the team to be quick and agile. You'll be looked to as an expert in system administration and radio technologies. You'll work closely with internal customers to help define requirements and see those requirements through to delivery. You should enjoy digging deep to find answers, sometimes this will require reverse engineering existing solutions, a situation you thrive in.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing operations and a systems team in a security operations center environment, defining and executing strategic goals, and directly managing an engineering team. You will have a strong background in working with and evolving security technologies with demonstrated experience solving complex technical problems. You will be able to effectively prioritize delivery of key goals and projects while using existing resources to do more with less. You will possess strong abilities to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders, have a phenomenal record of customer service, possess expert verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrate keen judgment and critical thinking while under pressure. You will have demonstrated people management skills with the ability to clearly define and uphold performance standards while also growing future programmatic leaders.

Job responsibilities:
• Directly manage a team of Systems Engineers, maintaining clear performance standards while developing the next generation of AWS Security leaders
• Execution against project plans and timely delivery of committed results.
• Building, enhancing and maintaining a best-in-class engineering team.
• Working closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical designs.
• Supporting and fostering a fast paced and highly motivated team
• Strengthening relationships and deliverables to internal and external customers
• Manage a complex technical program, continuously enforcing and raising the bar of service delivery
• Evaluate and improve security technology solutions in collaboration with stakeholders

All services are managed cross-functionally across the global SOC program with teams supporting a 24/7 operation. After-hours calls, night/weekend work, international travel, and participation in on-call paging will be required. This role will provide regular coaching sessions and appraisals for each team member whilst also addressing performance management.


Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management or a related field
• 7+ years' experience working directly in systems engineering teams or 3+ years' experience in building, leading, managing, and mentoring high performing engineering teams in a software or hardware organization
• 3+ years' experience in systems or software development
• 3+ years' experience in partnering with program or product management professionals

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, MBA or a related field
• 3+ years' experience with Physical Security Systems (Video or Access Control)
• 3+ year scripting experience (PowerShell, Batch, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.)
• 1+ years' experience with Amazon Web Services (S3, EC2, VPC, etc.)
• 1+ years' experience hardware and system architecture design for security devices with connectivity technologies
• Experience in 24/7 online environment
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
• Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role
• Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
